Trust Wallet adds support for Tron via WalletConnect, opening 600 wallets to the stablecoin juggernaut
The integration connects Trust Wallet's 210 million users to Tron's sprawling stablecoin ecosystem, which processed roughly $7.9 trillion in USDT transfers throughout 2025
For a network that moves more than $21 billion in stablecoins every single day, Tron has had a surprisingly awkward relationship with the broader wallet ecosystem. WalletConnect, the open protocol that lets mobile wallets talk to decentralized applications, has been around since 2018. It only added Tron support in January 2026.
Trust Wallet, the self-custodial wallet serving over 210 million users, now lets its users connect directly to Tron dApps through WalletConnect. In practical terms, that means TRC-20 token transfers, stablecoin swaps, and DeFi interactions without leaving the wallet you already use. No new downloads, no bridging headaches, no additional development required from app teams.
What the integration actually unlocks
WalletConnect’s Tron support doesn’t just benefit Trust Wallet. The protocol connects over 600 wallets and roughly 70,000 dApps, creating a massive surface area for Tron’s ecosystem to tap into.
The dApps already benefiting from the integration include some familiar names in the Tron universe: Sun.io, JustLend, Bridgers, Symbiosis Finance, and Debridge. Other wallets joining the party alongside Trust Wallet include Binance Web3 Wallet and SafePal.
Since October 2025, Trust Wallet has already processed over $20 million in transactions through this WalletConnect integration.
Tron’s stablecoin dominance by the numbers
The network facilitated approximately $7.9 trillion in USDT transfers throughout 2025. Tron founder Justin Sun has noted that stablecoin transfers on the network exceed $21 billion daily.
WalletConnect CEO Jess Houlgrave has emphasized the efficiency stablecoins offer compared to traditional payment rails, framing the Tron integration as a step toward mainstream accessibility.
As of January 2026, Tron boasts over 359 million user accounts and has surpassed 12 billion total transactions. The network’s total value locked exceeds $25 billion, cementing its position as one of the largest DeFi ecosystems by that metric.
What investors should watch
The immediate question for TRX holders is whether increased accessibility translates to increased demand for the network’s native token. More wallet connections mean more potential transactions, and more transactions mean more TRX burned in fees.
One risk worth flagging: Tron’s ecosystem remains closely associated with Justin Sun, whose regulatory and legal entanglements have periodically spooked investors. The network’s fundamentals are strong by on-chain metrics, but concentration of influence in a single figure adds governance risk that doesn’t show up in TVL charts.
For DeFi protocols building on Tron, the WalletConnect integration should reduce friction for new users significantly. JustLend and Sun.io in particular stand to benefit from the wave of wallet users who can now interact with their platforms without downloading Tron-specific wallet software.
The $20 million in Trust Wallet transactions since October 2025 is worth monitoring as a leading indicator. If that number accelerates meaningfully in the months following the formal January announcement, it would suggest genuine demand rather than novelty usage.
