Charles Hoskinson plots Cardano Discord migration to escape X drama

Hoskinson wants a quieter home for the Cardano community.

Cardano creator Charles Hoskinson is coordinating with Phillip Pon, president of Cardano’s co-founding entity EMURGO, on plans to create a Discord hub to give the Cardano community a well-moderated, drama-free alternative to X, where discussions have long been overshadowed by governance disputes and public disagreements.

According to Hoskinson, the new Discord would provide a more constructive and moderated environment for discussion, free from the controversy and negativity associated with Elon Musk’s social media platform. He said he would continue livestreaming on X but would restrict AMA participation to members of the new Cardano Discord and the existing Midnight Discord.

The plans were unveiled during a challenging period for Cardano, as the blockchain faces renewed scrutiny over ecosystem sustainability and declining market performance. ADA traded around $0.17 at press time, down 37% over the past month and more than 75% over the last year, according to CoinGecko data.

Selling accelerated after Hoskinson said he would be taking a break and cautioned that parts of the Cardano ecosystem could fail. The warning followed the closure of TapTools and a contentious community decision to withhold funding for the Cardano 2026 summit.
