The new feature allows users to connect financial accounts through Plaid to track spending, monitor bills and analyze transactions using AI.
Anthropic introduced Personal Finance in Claude on Thursday, allowing users to securely connect their bank and credit card accounts to analyze spending, monitor balances and manage personal budgets through AI.
The feature uses Plaid to connect financial accounts, giving Claude read only access to balances, credit limits and up to two years of transaction history. Users can ask questions about their spending, identify recurring payments and review upcoming bills without manually reviewing multiple banking apps.
Claude can also identify duplicate charges, unexpected fees and changes in recurring expenses across connected accounts. Users can generate customizable spending charts, payment calendars and financial dashboards.
Anthropic said the service can help users understand their cash flow, estimate how much money remains before their next paycheck and explain financial concepts such as annual percentage rates using their actual account data.
The feature is rolling out in beta this week to US subscribers on Claude’s Pro, Max and Ultra plans.

According to Anthropic’s documentation, users authorize account connections directly through Plaid, meaning Claude does not receive their banking passwords.
The company said access is strictly limited to reading financial information. Claude cannot transfer funds, manage accounts or execute investments, and the feature is not designed to provide investment advice.
Conversations within the Personal Finance hub are excluded from model training, while information shared outside the dedicated hub remains subject to users’ existing privacy settings.
Anthropic said it is also exploring partnerships with banks, wealth managers and other regulated financial institutions to expand Claude’s role in personal financial services.
