Worldcoin, a blockchain digital identity platform, has announced the launch of World ID 2.0, introducing a new feature called Apps, which allows users to build and use integrations to verify their online accounts using World ID. These integrations are available for various popular platforms, including Reddit, Discord, Shopify, Minecraft, and Telegram.

World ID is a privacy-preserving digital identity (World ID) offered by Worldcoin, which allows individuals to prove their unique human identity online while maintaining complete privacy.

This new version designs a more secure and private method for individuals to prove their unique human identity on the Internet while maintaining control over their personal information.

The upgrade also introduces three Levels of World ID, which enable a more comprehensive range of use cases. One of these levels, Orb+, includes face authentication to ensure that only the rightful owner can use their World ID for essential actions.

Since the launch of World ID in early 2023, millions across the globe have embraced it. According to World ID statistics, over 1% of the population in Chile and Argentina and 2% in Portugal have verified their World ID using an Orb.

World ID is actively participating in the global digital identity market, which researchers project will reach $83.2 billion by 2028. Its supporters hope for international acceptance of World ID, but there is no guarantee.

Worldcoin sees the system’s security features and user control mechanisms as providing potential advantages in a market increasingly concerned with identity fraud and data exploitation.
